Lost In the Game 9.28.05

G
step forward those who profess, wrong from right
and at the stroke of midnight, determine black from white
reveal yourselves, and shoulder the plight
for the questions are pointed – and aimed
and if you know the answers, then let them be named
for we are lost
lost in the game

my father’s father, gladly gave his time,
and if I understood, I would gladly give mine
but the order given, is one given blind
and calculated in fame
and those that are burdened, are left killing in shame
for we are lost
lost in the game

the image burned, onto history’s page
the confusion of death, pushes awkward change
but the only oil at fault, is those held in the planes
and for that, no one’s to blame
victor of an invisible enemy, what’s to be gained?
when we are lost
lost in the game

And now we are left, simply to debate
the folly of engagements, and our anxious fates
for those that can answer, are already too late,
their fate is the same
and for those in confusion, recognize no pain
for we are all lost
lost in the game

Capo 4th fret,
G, Am/G, Bm/G (Quick strumming)
