Talkin’ Haircut Election Blues
From the 2004 Creative Journal 11/20/04
Words and Music by John Compton

Well, I walked outside, about November five,
just wanted to make sure I was still alive
when some guy ran up, asked how’d I do?
what color was I? Red or Blue?

I said I wasn’t sure, I’d have to look –

So I went to the doctor, but before I even begun
he pressed my tongue, asked me who won?
I said I didn’t know what he meant,
so he asked me name a president

I said Jimmy Carter. I think in the fourth quarter…

I was ok, was what he said,
but I needed somebody to check my head

so I laid down on the psychiatric couch
but before the words left my mouth
the doc rushed in, and asked me about my dream
was it an elephant or a mule I seen?

I said it was Pam Anderson – no Jennifer Anniston

he said I checked out alright
but it might be better if I met some girls tonight
so I called up the only girl I knew on my phone
just to make sure I wasn’t alone
she answered all in tears,
something about 4 more years
that’s about the time I got scared
I just wanted her to cut my hair

so I skipped on down to the barber shop
get someone to tell me what’s going on up top
they was pantin and huffin – wasting time
talking about some guy always changing his mind
so I sat in the chair, asked the man to take a look
when they all agreed the man’s a crook

That’s about the time I decided to wear it long.

You Found It!
